Pilgrim Lutheran Church extends a special welcome to college and university students across East Texas! We offer salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and more! We know that often you are away from your church home and family, and we want to be your church home and family while you are attending any of the area’s institutions of higher education. We are a welcoming community that will encourage and otherwise support you, regardless of which institution you are attending and regardless of your religious background or lack thereof.

Our warm, smaller congregation is an ideal place for you not only to hear the faithful preaching of God’s law and Gospel and also, as appropriate, to receive the benefits of His Gospel sacramentally but also to make Christian friends and find experienced Christian mentors for your college and university years and the rest of your life. Our pastor has taught at the college and university level and previously has helped students through what can be tumultuous times and is available for your spiritual direction. (If you do not have your own vehicle to get to Pilgrim, transportation to services, Bible Classes and Studies, and other events and activities usually can be arranged–use the contact information at right.)

Our welcome to you extends beyond the beginning of the academic year with its Church Fairs and other “back to school” events. Explore this website at your convenience for a taste of our Bible-centered preaching and teaching and to find what we believe, teach, and confess (you might be further interested in this page). And, come for a visit anytime in order to personally experience our friendly and faithful practice of the historic Christian liturgy and older and newer Christian hymns. We are confident that you may find, as others before you have, that there is no place else in East Texas that you would rather be for Church.
