As the name might suggest, the Once-a-month Social Outings are part of a formal effort to get members of the congregation together socially as an informal group at least once each month. Outings might include dining at a restaurant, watching a new movie in a theater, enjoying a play or concert, or taking in an athletic event. Some Outings may be intended for families with children, while others may be intended to give parents a night out without their children. Some Outings may take advantage of the opportunities in Kilgore, while others may involve reasonable same-day travel within East and Central Texas or northwestern Louisiana.

The emphasis, however, is on getting people out of their homes and together socially, not necessarily on going “out”. Recognizing also that everyone’s financial resources are not the same, some Outings may be “in” the congregation’s Parish Hall, such as a successful Family Pizza and Game Night in August of 2013.

Check the latest parish newsletter or bulletin for details about upcoming Outings.

Edgar Wuthrich tries to win a point for the men's team in the impromptu game of “Bible Pictionary” at the Family, Pizza and Game Night on Friday, August 16. The women ended up only one point behind, but only because Angela Sampson ran out of time with Pastor Galler's most-difficult slip in the game, “The exiles rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem”. In all, 22 members and friends enjoyed food and friendly competition in a variety of games.
